The Athletic Football Podcasts

We worked with The Athletic FC to create a new visual system for four of their club podcasts: Walk On, Handbrake Off, The View From The Lane, and Straight Outta Cobham.

The brief was to build on the foundations of the existing Athletic FC framework while giving each show its own distinct visual personality. The creative approach was centred around the idea of “siblings, not twins” connected through presenter-led compositions, bold typography, and a consistent design structure, but individually shaped by the culture, history, and visual language of each club. 

Liverpool drew from hand-painted murals and supporter culture; Arsenal referenced Highbury heritage, Art Deco, and architectural print; Tottenham leaned into North London paste-up posters and stadium atmosphere; while Chelsea took cues from West London fashion, sportswear, and editorial styling.
